Mirror Mantra
You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.

I'm absolutely thrilled to share something I've been pouring my heart into for years: my book, The Mirror Effect: A Transformative Approach to Growth for the Next Generation of Female Leaders, will be published this fall!
This book has been years in the making, born from my countless conversations with brilliant leaders and friends whom I have mentored and who, despite their incredible talent and achievements, still questioned whether they truly belonged at the table. Does that sound familiar? It certainly did to me throughout much of my career.
The Mirror Effect isn't just another leadership book. It's a roadmap based on real experiences—the hard-won lessons from my three decades in biotech and healthcare, from navigating challenging environments in large and small companies and institutions to building the supportive communities like the Biotech CEO Sisterhood that have become lifelines for so many of us.
This book is for you if:
you've ever walked into a room and felt like the only one
you've wondered whether you were enough, despite all your hard work and achievements
you've considered how you could use your power to help others rise alongside you.
You can preorder The Mirror Effect here.
The central premise challenges everything we've been taught about "making it." Instead of focusing solely on breaking glass ceilings, I advocate for something more transformative: surrounding ourselves with mirrors, people who reflect our potential and remind us that we already have everything we need to succeed.
Through three powerful sections, the book offers a complete roadmap: learning to truly know yourself and dismantle the inner critic that holds you back, understanding your environment and navigating the complex dynamics that can either support or sabotage your success, and finally, setting yourself up for sustainable success through building your personal board of directors, mastering crucial negotiations, and commanding any room you enter (stay tuned for more on my journey to publication—dropping this Thursday).
What I'm most excited about is that this isn't just my story; it's woven together with insights from incredible leaders across industries who have faced similar challenges and found ways to not just survive, but absolutely thrive on their own terms.
The world desperately needs what you have to offer, exactly as you are. This book is my way of holding up a mirror for you, reflecting back your brilliance and potential, just as so many generous mentors and sponsors have done for me throughout my journey.
What's Next
I truly can't wait to share this book with you and hear how it impacts your journey, and I'll be sharing so much more about the book, the research behind it, and the incredible stories of transformation that inspired every page.
This is just the beginning of what I hope will be an ongoing conversation about how we can all step into our power and create the inclusive, supportive environments where everyone can thrive.

This week, I want you to identify one person in your life who serves as a "mirror"—someone who consistently sees and reflects your potential, even when you can't see it yourself.
Take a moment to reach out and thank them. Tell them specifically how their belief in you has made a difference in your life or career (and leave a comment below letting us know who’s inspired you to date!). Not only will this strengthen that crucial relationship, but it will also remind you that you already have mirrors in your life reflecting your worth and capability.
If you're struggling to think of someone, that's valuable information too. It might be time to intentionally seek out those mirror relationships. And remember, sometimes we need to be willing to be that mirror for others first.
Keep shining,
Sheila

Have you seen my TEDx talk "Focus on the Mirror, Not the Glass Ceiling"? In it, I explore how finding the right mirrors—people who reflect our potential and validate our experiences—can transform our leadership journey. I'd be honored if you'd watch and share it with others who might benefit from this message.
