What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while.

– Gretchen Rubin

As we settle into our regular routines this January, I've been thinking about what makes change stick. A fresh start can be exhilarating—but what happens when that initial spark dims?

Many of you completed the Wheel of Life exercise we discussed in December, setting powerful intentions for 2025. Now comes the real work: turning those intentions into sustained action.

Over my years building companies and serving on boards, I've learned that sustainable change isn't about massive overhauls—it's about small, consistent shifts that compound over time. Rather than trying to revolutionize every aspect of my life at once, I focus on one or two meaningful adjustments that align with my bigger vision.

Want to dive deeper into creating lasting change? Read my article on maintaining momentum all year long, where I share specific strategies for maintaining momentum throughout the year.

Choose ONE intention from your Wheel of Life that would make the biggest impact right now. Write it down somewhere visible. Then, identify three tiny steps you can take this week to move toward it.

For example, if deeper connection with your team is a priority, you might:

  1. Block 10 minutes before meetings to check in personally

  2. Schedule one walking 1:1 instead of a desk meeting

  3. Send a specific note of appreciation to someone daily

The key is making these steps small enough to feel doable, but meaningful enough to matter. Next week, evaluate what worked and adjust accordingly.

Remember: Real transformation happens through consistent small actions, not grand gestures.

Keep shining,

Sheila
